Very well written, brilliantly acted, entertainingly directed, this is the ultimate in ultra-quirk while still holding onto an innocence and honesty in its depiction of teen life. It doesn't matter that it takes place in the U.
K., you'll relate on some level to what's going on. It's also got an amazing soundtrack that compliments the film beautifully, courtesy of Arctic Monkeys' Alex Turner. Did I mention the acting? All of it top notch, especially Noah Taylor and Sally Hawkins as the parents.
