Review of Submarine (2011) by Anthony S — 04 Jan 2012
Highly entertaining with some great young and old performances. Seeing the relationships being built up (some down) between the school kids and the parents is something I expected to see before but was approached in a very original way.
Plus, if you love Wes Anderson, you will love Ayoade's sense of direction through the use of primary and vibrant colouring, and the dividing of the film in parts (ala Anderson and Tarantino, I'm kind of a sucker towards this kind of filmmaking).
Great soundtrack to top it off, all in all, a great film. Can't wait to see what Ayoade is going to do next.
