Review of Submarine (2011) by Tom B — 05 Jan 2012
This superb British comedy will make you smile, laugh and cringe.
Submarine is a humerus, real, loveable, odd but charming coming of age tale about Oliver Tate - a teenager in Wales in the 1990's. It is very well acted, shot, designed, structured, cast and has an excellent sound track too. The characters are genius, highly quotable and believable. All of this combines to create a wonderfully unique, charming and entertaining drama dark comedy masterpiece - I hope you love it like I do.
Tate is a geeky secondary school boy who finds romance in Jordana, whilst trying to help his parents flailing marriage. This is a quirky tale about life, learning and the change of growing up.
Paddy Considine has a cameo as a wacky neighbour, it is co-produced by Ben Stiller and is the astonishing first film from Richard Ayoade (IT Crowd).
