Great coming of age comedy/drama. A fifteen year old boy has to win over the girl of his dreams and save his parents failing marriage despite being a bit of a weirdo in a small Welsh town! Submarine is a brilliantly written tale, the script being quite intelligent and not relying on toilet humor to get by but smart, witty observations and decent, realistic performances. I say realistic, i'm not sure if Paddy Considines character of a too cool for school but slightly strange New Age psychic type is that realistic but that brings an element of oddness to the film which is what you might expect from writer/director Richard Ayode, best known for his funny acting roles in Garth Merenghi's Darkplace and The IT Crowd, who does a great job of getting that "things are changing" feeling from the characters, be it for better or worse.

Overall, Submarine is a well made and well acted story thats funny, sad and poignant at all the right times. Basically, if you've ever been a teenager and fancied someone, watch Submarine!
