Review of Student Bodies (1981) by John P — 31 May 2010
"Student Bodies" is to late 70s/early 80s slasher films what "Scary Movie" was to late 90s slasher films.
Though very tame on the nudity and gore front... I don't believe there was much of either... "Student Bodies" is a very funny, very stupid B-movie that knows it's a B-movie.
Shortly after Jamie Lee Curtis's birthday, a heavy breathing serial killer is on the loose at an all-American high school, and only nerdy good girl Toby (Kristin Riter) is on his trail. The killer is as vicious as you can get, as his ammunition includes paper clips, horsehead bookends, and the most cruel murder weapon of all - eggplant.
Not everybody will enjoy this movie. Only those who are privy to the in-jokes of the slasher craze will appreciate it; those who enjoy "so dumb it's funny" movies will also enjoy it. It's not a classic by any means, but a nice, stupid time-waster.
