Review of Stuck (2002) by Geneviève C — 26 Jan 2009
Not at all what I expected and actually rather good as it manages to illicit an emotional response from the viewer. I really did root for stephen rea's injured, trapped character and felt anger and bemusement towards mena suvari's actions.
but because of the ridiculous nature of her behaviour the film does suffer from a lack of genuine believe-ability. but then again plenty of motorists leave injured hit and run victims at the roadside so I guess it's not too far-fetched.
is good to see rea in something he doesn't sleepwalk through for a change. I reckon they should have taken leaf out of the film 'phonebooth's book and got the runtime down to an hour and just revolved events around the two main characters and her house/garage.
