Review of Stuck (1974) by Camden N — 10 Dec 2008
I liked it. It was suspenseful enough, and Stephen Rea's character was sympathetic. However, even I can't help but raise my eyebrow at the attempts to make Mena Suvari more "black".
The direction is pretty good, and it's very suspenseful once the accident finally happens, but it gets a little too out there for its own good. The ending is pretty ludicrous...
The characters are not so well developed either, and in the end they're just a little too black-and-white for this to really play as the realistic thriller that Stuart Gordon was probably going for.
In my opinion, they should've stuck a little closer to the facts. I'm not saying we needed a documentary, but it might've been more interesting and less ridiculous that way.
