Jake Gyllenhaal is an amazing actor that reaches into the depths of his heart and soul. I have rarely seen anything he's been in that wasn't worth watching. Did I enjoy it? No. Wat it inspiring? Yes.
Was it depressing? Yes. If you can take a traumatic event and overcome so many challenges, I can't help but admire the story, however, the focus on his highly dysfunctional family, who were more obsessed with getting the public's attention than helping their son recover, was almost more than I could stomach.
At the end I felt depressed and emotionally drained. So if you want to experience life's lowest moments, than slightly rise above it, watch the movie. If you want to be entertained or uplifted, forget about it!
