Review of Stripes (2005) by Topher H — 17 Oct 2009
I still like this comedy classic about the basic training and first mission of a bunch of army misfits, from the dim-witted "Cruise" to the "don't touch me or my stuff or I'll kill you" character nicknamed "Psycho" to Bill Murray's class clown slacker.
Full disclosure: I'm ex-military, so I can relate to the B.S. of basic training and the full range of personality types that sign up for the military. You have to explain the Cold War situation to younger viewers, but aside from that, this is still a fun movie.
The graduation parade sequence is priceless, and anyone who was with me at CMR in '81/'82 should remember why! :-).
