Review of Stripes (1981) by Chance L — 16 Dec 2009
A star-making turn by Bill Murray makes this an iconic parody of military life; think of it as of it as "Animal House" goes to the army. Murray and Ramis are magnetic as the two comedic foils to one another.
The film would definitely have suffered had they not been paired together. The supporting ensemble is equally hilarious, particularly John Candy, who showed much promise in this earlier role. But ultimately, this is the Bill Murray show, and his charisma coupled with his bitingly sarcastic sense of humor make this is a film to remember.
