Review of Strings (2004) by Morgan S — 05 Aug 2006
One of the most unique films that I have ever had the pleasure to watch. The cinematography is beautiful, and the story equally as wonderful. It was a real surprise to see such a brilliantly done film, and the whole thing is done with marionettes.
The thing that really struck me as wonderful was the near-perfect incorporation of the strings in the storyline. They wern't just there, they were part of the storyline. Although doing a movie with all marionettes is a great idea, and a lot of times the strings looked beautiful and perfect, sometimes the strings would get in the way of the action of the scenes. This was very apparent when trying to do fight scenes, and the strings would sometimes get in the way. But this didn't happen often enough and it wasn't severe enough to interfere with the amazing story.
It is just wonderful to see something that really stands out from the rest of the movies out there, and this movie does just that. I definitely recommend that everyone should watch this movie at least once.
