Review of Strike! (1998) by Sanford R — 18 Nov 2008
See lots of actresses when they were young in this predecessor of sorts to Mona Lisa Smile. This movie is still significant 10 years later because of its careful examination of inequitable education between the genders (or substitute in races to make it more contemporary).
The movie's title is the weakest link in this independent gem, and there are lots of 1960s songs used in the film that would have more relevance to the film's title rather than "All I Wanna Do" which continually evoked Sheryl Crow's ditty (for this audience member anyway).
