Review of Strictly Ballroom (1992) by Nicole B — 16 Sep 2008
At first this looks like a cheesy romance story, and it is. However, it does redeem itself, as it over exagerates everything. The characters are large, the costumes are crazy, the makeup is out of control.
Also, the ever so cliche dance theme is treated purposefully so. Admist the ugly duckling underbelly, Strictly Ballroom keeps a certain originality about itself. So, you see there is a fine line between trash and art.
