Review of Streets of Fire (1984) by Don N — 24 Nov 2009
Wow Walter Hill really does know how to make off kilter movies and this one should be seen along side his classic The Warriors.
Here Hill gives us a biker/musical action film with a fab Ry Cooder score and a oddball turn by Willem Dafoe as the chief villian.
Hill sets thne action in a hybrid 50s modern day time with retro policecars and hot sled cars.
He also gets good performances from Michael Pare,Amy Madigan ,Diane Lane and Rik Moranis.
The film is packed with great moments and Pare is great bad ass no shit kind of guy.
A flop in its time this film now shows how underated Walter Hil is as a director A cult film in the making.
