Review of Streets of Fire (1984) by Christopher A — 19 Mar 2009
My second favorite Walter Hill movie, behind The Warriors, Streets of Fire is a colorful, vibrant, and gritty "rock & roll fable," about a mysterious man returning from a war to find his rock-star girlfriend kidnapped by the local biker gang.
Michael Pare is OK as always as the lead character, just OK. The true highlights are Diane Lane as the rocker girl, Rick Moranis as her manager/on-off love interest, tough-girl Amy Madigan and the always awesome Willem Dafoe as the biker gang leader.
The great rock soundtrack, colorful settings, and complex characters makes Streets of Fire a memorable movie.
