Review of StreetDance 3D (2010) by Jk F — 14 May 2010
Idiotic dance movies are fast becoming ten-a-penny. This film added nothing new ("Put ballet and street together?" "Why not?") but was still pretty entertaining in its own right. The choreography was generally pretty good, the story didn't grate as much as it did initially further into the movie (when there was less of it and hence the actors - the great Charlotte Rampling aside - couldn't show themselves up as much) and the dance sequences were generally visually well put together.
The one exception to this last point was Diversity, whose routine got shredded by poor editing. Where this film really scored however was in its 3D; this is the best live-action 3D I've seen yet - the aerial shots in particular looked exquisite, but the film as a whole was impressive to look at anyway.
If you like this kind of film (and occasionally I do) I'd be surprised if you didn't enjoy it.
