OK. I'm struggling with a star rating for this one really. If, like me, you go and watch this film purely to see the best of British Street dance talent (Well, the ones we're aware of thanks to TV talent shows, at least) in one place then you'll be happy to know that there's loads of George Sampson (he actually plays a character in the movie mostly unlike the others) and there are plenty of new routines from Flawless and Diversity as well as a cameo from Akai and plenty of others you will spot if you watched any of the recent talent shows on TV!

The movie itself however, is predictable to say the least. It follows a street dance crew led by a girl called Carly who's boyfriend has left them in the lurch just weeks before the Street Dance finals. With nowhere to rehearse and the typical British weather making it impossible to do their dancing where it should be done (i.e. on the streets), they are offered a room at a local ballet school in return for including 5 of the school's finest ballet dancers in their routine, something which the school's head thinks would help the students to reignite their passion for dance in time for their auditions for the Royal Ballet.

Obvious clashes occur to start with, moving slowly into mutual respect for each others' styles, a blossoming romance and a climax of a fusion ballet/street dance for the final against Rival group The Surge (played by Flawless). With fairly un-emotional acting, the cast were clearly picked for their dancing talent rather than their ability to act and the dancing obviously took a priority over the script. I'm not quite sure why they bothered with the 3D. I don't think it adds much to the film and the money could have been better spent elsewhere.

Having said all of that, it's not pretending to be anything it's not, it's being advertised as the best of british street dance talent in one place, which it is. If you love dancing it's good fun, but if you don't, you'll hate it.
