Review of StreetDance 3D (2010) by Huw P — 07 Jun 2010
An enjoyable dance movie affair in the same vein as the popular Step Up series and other movies of the dance film genre. The story follows all the predictable plot line elements and so audiences will be left with no real surprises. However there is a sense of authicity to this movie, made so by the britishness of it; the scenery of London is fantastic, the dry british wit and humour causing a number of laughs and the variety of accents refreshing (althought the previous said humour might be lost on non-british audiences). Cameos by popular dance acts and several well known actors brings a smile to the viewer's face but it is the (numberous) dance performences that are the winner of this film; so much so you come to think the young actors must have been exhausted after the filming ended! Key dances to watch for is the battle in the club and the solo performance by geogre sampson, who makes a surprising endearing support role throughout the film. It is an enjoyable movie to sit down and relax to without having to worry about a complex plot.
Streetdance is the british Step Up and we are glad to have it.
