Review of StreetDance 3D (2010) by Lee B — 29 Jun 2010
I just about enjoyed this.
I loved all the street dance I saw in Britains Got Talent these past 2 years and this film delivers dances in spades, I dont think that 5 minutes even passes without there being some kind of choreographed routine and that saves this.....because as a 'film' with plot and stuff, it sucks!!!
The main character, Carly, sounds like she has been dubbed, might not have been, but her voice just did not fit her and that was a big distraction for the first 20 mins and made the whole thing just seem so amateur, it was just wrong!
The 3D elements are very good, and it works really well with the dances, theres a scene in a club that seems to partially use the 'Matrix' technology with the freeze frame and then a camera that seems to rotate round the actors, but where the matrix was a 360 degree turn, this was more a 15 degree turn (!), that although impressive, I just wanted the camera to carry on around the actors, the 3D would have made that AMAZING!
George Sampson is very much a bit part actor in this, and I personally felt he's a little bit shown up by the other dancers, he doesnt really compare.
Worth a watch for the 3D dancing.
