Review of StreetDance 3D (2010) by Matthew F — 06 Jul 2010
I was pleasantly surprised by this film. It was great to see the British spin on the hundreds of American dance films it takes after. Honestly I was hoping for a lot more from the 3D, it didn't give the depth I thought it would and I thought the still panning shots would have popped but I felt the direction was a little poor in those places and they lost the intended effect.
Aside from these minor issues the film was very enjoyable. The choreography was fantastic and the guest appearance of diversity and flawless starring as the rivals certainly added a wow factor. All this clearly made the dance sequences the highlight of the film and rightly so in this genre.
These are loosely tied together with the dance group rival plot and this was okay, but nothing spectacular. One good twist made it a lot more interesting though. Overall this was a surprisingly enjoyable and feel good film.
Guest star dancers, phenomenal british soundtrack and great choreography made this into something that shows brits have huge amounts of talent to offer.
