Review of Street Kings (2008) by Allan C — 15 Mar 2009
After all of the bad reviews, I had pretty low expectations and actually found the movie fairly entertaining. It's trying to be a modern day "LA Confidential" but it's not quite up to it.
Keanu is adequate at best and the story pushed credibility at worst. However, it's fast paced, had excellent non-choreographed feeling action scenes, and I really enjoy director David Ayer's gritty aesthetic he's shown in all of his films.
Of course I have no real idea if Ayre's grit is realistic or not, but I enjoy it nonetheless.
