Review of Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li (2009) by Josh P — 19 Aug 2009
I am not completely sure on how this can be called a Street Fighter movie. There were very few fights in the streets. The characters are named after Street Fighter characters, and sort of look like them, but are really not them.
Balrog is not a boxer in this film. Bison doesn't do any of his cool moves nor does even remotely resemble him at any point. I think Chun-Li might do one Chun-Li move and dress like Chun-Li in one scene.
The only actual Street Fighter character in the movie was Vega, and he was in, like, two scenes. Oh yeah, but they did mention a Street Fighter Tournament at the end and even dropped the name Ryu. In all honesty, this was just a terrible action movie that they billed as Street Fighter in hopes that maybe somebody would possibly want to watch it.
I don't even know if I'd watch another one, even if they made it about Ryu. It would probably star one of the Jonas Brothers as Ryu and Channing Tatum as Zangief.
