Review of Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li (2009) by Aaron H — 24 Sep 2011
I am not a big video gamer. I have heard of Street Fighter and even watched the old Jean Claude Van Damme movie of the same name. But really I don't know much of the video game back story or characters.
This movie focus is on a woman named Chun-Li. We watch as her father is taken away by a ruthless gangster. In later years she takes her martial arts training and joins a group called the Spider Web to take down this gangster and his organization.
The film stars Kristrin Kreuk as Chung-Li. She impressed me with her fight and action sequences. Plus the film has a decent supporting cast with Chris Klein, Neal McDonough, Michael Duncan Clark and Robin Shou.
Though I did find Chris Klein character Nash quite cheesy and lame at times. But the film has a solid revenge story and the action and fight sequences are done very well. Overall this was better than some other video game movies out there.
I found you never had to play the Street Fighter game to enjoy this movie. Overall it was a decent action movie that entertains.
