Review of Street Fighter (1994) by Jack W — 05 May 2010
I'm not saying it's a great movie, or even a good movie. But it's just a fun popcorn action flick that doesn't take itself seriously, but is very fun to watch.
Van Damme reprises his role as Van Damme I mean Guile, and Raul Julia is very enjoyable as Bison playing the role as an over the top power hungry dictator.
A lot of people complain about the action in it, but I didn't think it was that bad, and I liked the climax of the film.
It was also pretty funny at some parts. Like, "Quick change the channel!" And the part where Bison gives a speech to Dee Jay about accepting defeat together as Dee Jay sneaks away.
It's got a few deeper moments towards the end of the film involving Dhalsim, played by the great actor Roshan Seth, and Blanka. But even the film doesn't take itself too seriously.
But that's why I enjoy this. It is just a mindless and fun 90's action film.
