Review of Streamers (1983) by Sam B — 25 Feb 2011
This movie had elements that should have made me love it. There were moments of engaging dialogue. There was the use of one room to add intensity as the viewer is reduced to looking out of the windows to see outside. It is shot well, capably acted...and really fucking boring.
I have a problem with Altman. If this makes any sense, it seems that his films are so carefully and skillfully crafted that they come all the way around to looking ordinary and somnambulant. Such was the case here.
This story would be far better suited to the stage as a play.
