Review of Strayed (2003) by John C — 03 Jan 2005
[left]Strayed would normally be a movies that I would enjoy: it is set in 1940 France and deals with the plight of regular people coping with the fall of Paris. The problem is that while that may be the film's orginal intent, the movie fails miserably at either entertaining us or informing us about what it was like during that dark period. The film is about a mother and their two kids (the father was killed during the initial days of the war) and how they manage to survive their flight from Paris with the help of a mysterious young man. The fact that the viewer can tell right from the start that there is something not quite right about the young man is not surprising (after all these kind of plot twists are fairly common in movies like this) but what was disappointing was how underwellming the man's "dark secret" was. Not a very entertaing film, nor a very interesting one.
