An early example of a found-footage supernatural horror film, Strawberry Estates was technically released before the more (deservedly) famous Blair Witch Project, but Blair Witch was already being shot and publicized when Strawberry Estates went into production as a deliberate attempt to cash in on what was supposed to be the new face of horror.
Strawberry Estates fails in every way that Blair Witch proceeds: terribly fake and scripted performances, edits that undermine the found footage aesthetic, etc. turn this into a boring and even annoying attempt to capitalize on the cleverness of others.
