Review of Straw Dogs (2011) by Adrian Z — 11 Dec 2011
3 - This remake of the 1971 doesn't stand out too much from contemporary suspense thrillers, and doesn't provide as much food for thought as the original would have in it's time. By now we have lost most sensitivity to violence.
City man Marsden moves with his wife to a small town, where local rednecks covet her. Gradually tension mounts until a violent (and gory) climax. The film does do tension well, but with some frankly selfish lead characters, the film leaves no one to root for.
