Review of Straw Dogs (2011) by Em K — 09 Jan 2012
David Sumner: "There is one thing in the bible I do believe.".
Charlie: "Oh, whats that.".
David Sumner: "Thou shall not covet thy neighbor's wife.".
Charlie: "What happens when thy neighbor's wife covets you.".
A Pretty Mediocre Execution of an overused Formula. One thing about remakes is that, you can either mediocre to go-wrong or go really really good. And sometimes, touchin' a classic is a big no-no. This was another forgettable remake. It was a entertaining thriller but not enough. You got that hunch, "Oh, its there.. almost, almost." and then squats into crevasse. The performances are pretty strong and that has carried the movie across the almost-tippling path. The Plot is like opening a can of worms and the worms swarm into different directions. Issues, contradicitons, past, come to play until it reaches the point and it blows out of proportions. And I really don't like the setting. The feel to it is like, dry. Haha! Don't like it. Straw dog is an okay thriller that will be likely ignored soon. I recommend the remake of "Last House on the Left" and skip this one. 3 out of 5 stars! :).
