Review of Straw Dogs (2011) by Kent D — 17 Feb 2012

Pointless remake. It's not bad, by any means, just... pointless. Only Gus Van Sant's shot-by-shot remake of Psycho is a more similar remake to the source than this, ergo, pointless. Everyone's good in it (especially James Woods, who has a ball), however this version seems to miss the point of the original in that it somewhat revels in the violence, which the original abhors even when it's forced to resort to it.

Nowhere near as stylishly directed either...
