Review of Straw Dogs (1971) by Toby E — 21 Mar 2008
In this film, the build is what matters. peckinpah shows that he is an expert at slowly, tantalizingly unspooling suspense. even when the object of foreshadow is glaringly obvious, you have no idea how it will be used.
the only quibble I have with this film is the last line, which should tell you something about how highly I regard this small-town fable of morals, instinct, blood, alcohol & misogyny.
