Review of Straw Dogs (1971) by Jennifer L — 02 Dec 2011
Meh. Peckinpah is pretty misogynistic so it is difficult to get past and enjoy it for the other elements. Interesting study of violence, but controversy does not always equal brilliance. Some think so, but I was not impressed.
The character Amy is mistreated by every male character in this film and even though she gets to blow one away with a shotgun, it is not enough to redeem Peckinpah's treatment of her during the rest of the film.
