Review of Straw Dogs (1971) by Nathan L — 30 Mar 2008
This is the second masterpiece made by pekinpah, after the wild bunch. At first, it's no more than your average physcological drama, albeit with good acting and direction. But as the film begins to build tension after david discovers the dead cat.
You geniunely hate the roof workers. then, when the final showdown comes, the excessive violence that peckinpah is well known for comes full blown like a hurricane, as you cheer for the professorto "Kill em' all!!!".
I frankly was so disturbed by this tale of a math professor driven to vigilantism and excessive violence, that after the adrediline rush was over, I couldn't even move for a good ten minutes, staring at the credits.
