Review of Straw Dogs (1971) by Ray H — 18 Oct 2009
This is a very gripping film abt violence and violent men. Dustin Hoffman & Susan George were both very good. Their scenes together were totally believable. The story was very intense, w/ hints of violence building to the fight to the death scene at the end. A story of a small, physically awkward academic guy; coming to grips w/ the need to engage in violence to survive.
The DVD contains an interesting interview w/ Hoffman. He explains a lot abt how he was first cast in The Graduate & Midnight Cowboy. And, why he was interested in wrkng w/ Peckinpah on Straw Dogs.
