Review of Straw Dogs (1971) by Monsieur R — 09 Sep 2010
The lesson here I guess is not to be an intellectual American moving to Ireland. Plays all the usual stereotypes about rural irish folk giving foreignors a hard time.
But beside all that, watch this film to the end, if you can make it to the end. Tension filled from almost the beginning to end. Suddenly those quaint little irish people are anything but friendly.
The odds are against the professor (Dustin Hoffman), but he handles himself pretty well in a crisis, and oh baby doe he meet a crisis!
