Review of Straw Dogs (1971) by Edgar C — 31 Dec 2012
Peckinpah punished audiences psychologically back in the 70s with a masterpiece about an impulsive action that punishes the world in several ways: violence. The idea of protecting oneself's property and prioritizing it above rational thought and personal/family security, although defended by a handful majority, is pretty much idiotic. I'm not implying that police figures or political/governmental authorities should be the owners of our complete trust and shortages of any kind, yet I agree with the final statement that Sam makes in the end: Does anybody either know where they are heading with our instinctive actions? NOBODY.
98/100.
