While this quintessentially stupid film can certainly be credited as gruesome for its era, its characters flatness make such shocking displays utterly useless. The statement made is certainly a disturbing one, but it is made in a coarse, essentially irritating way.
The failed execution of promising content is all that hides behind the film's notoriety.
