Review of Strangers on a Train (1951) by Michael W — 19 Sep 2010
I loved the suspense in this movie. Although this Hitchcock film felt more slower, and the pacing differed at times, it was still a great movie. This film has the feel of a thriller, and a film noir. Robert Walker's performance has a great momentum, and drive to get what he wants; even if it is bad.
Farley Granger also plays a pivotal roll in the movie, as the paranoid celebrity being stalked by a crazed fan. The shots, techniques, everything was taken into account as a big scale film rather then a small one.
This movie feels ahead of it's time in terms of realism, and suspense. For Hitchcock fans out there, don't be expecting this to be just a another typical Hitchcock film with all his little idiosyncrasies.
It IS all there, and more.
