Review of Stranger Than Paradise (1984) by Jer M — 16 Dec 2008
An entertaining and involving film. It's very easy to get invested in these characters for some reason. It's interesting to see the slight obsession the two guys have with Eva. She causes them to make changes from their boring existences.
John Lurie is great, but I thought the girl who played Eva did not feel natural (something that was very important for the movie). The slow cuts between scenes got rather annoying after a while (especially when scenes lasted only 15-20 seconds, and then we had another black screen for a few seconds over and over).
Other than these minor nitpicks, I wouldn't change much about the film.
