Review of Stranger Than Paradise (1984) by Lori B — 17 Feb 2013
AFI Top 100 Movies nominee is one of those love it or hate it movies. It is a strange one and takes its time in unfolding life's more mundane events but a fantastic view into human behavior such as the inability to properly communicate.
It's also very funny in a dry way and the acting is as natural as the languid and long shots from director Jim Jarmusch. Most will not like this but if you're willing to be adventurous and patient you just may find yourself rewarded.
It was AFI's Top 100 Laughs nominee while also being nominated for the Grand Jury Prize for Drama at Sundance. It's a tough one to pigeonhole. It's mundane life in a nutshell.
