Review of Stranger Than Fiction (2000) by Luis R — 14 Jul 2013
Adam Sandler's done it. Jim Carrey's done it. Will Ferrell sure as hell does it to. Comedic actors who give dramatic roles a chance, makes movie like Stranger than Fiction so interesting. Will Ferrell plays Harold Crick, a normal man who counts how many times he brushes his teeth in the morning and is dreadfully systematic.
What he does not know is that he is being written as a character in Kay Eiffel's (Emma Thompson) book. And she's trying to kill him. As she writes though, Harold hears her narrating his life. Will Ferrel's comedic nature adds to the quaint feeling of the film.
Lines like "I brought you flours" makes it charismatic. Dustin Hoffman and excellent direction from Marc Forster is just the cherry on top.
