Review of Stranger Than Fiction (2000) by Justin T — 19 Mar 2014
Ok this is a good movie outweighed by a plot that when u think about it makes no sense. how could a character in a story talk to the author unless they are both products of the story, but this movie shows emma Thompson's character in real life.
And if they exist in the same universe how the hell can Emma Thompson's character alter Harold Crick's life. This movie about writing can't even tell a well enough written story to avoid these questions.
I know I should suspend my disbelief, but how can charlie Kaufman in Adaptation(2002) and Synecdoche, New York(2008) write much better stories with some of the similar themes without as many plot holes.
I may have over thinker this movie but at least I think about a movie and how it works. The writing unfortunately hinders some nice moments of cinematography and acting by Will ferrel. it's pretty much a 2 hour version of Duck Amuck without the wit of storytelling.
