Review of Strange Magic (2015) by Kat M — 24 Jan 2015
A bombastic, belting romance set in a dark forest populated by Henson-looking creatures of all shapes and sizes obnoxiously coated in glitter and pop music is clearly something that speaks to me in a way that it doesn't at all to the critics seeing this one.
Did you like the Labyrinth? Did you like Moulin Rouge? You'll love Strange Magic. The opening 20 minutes are a chore, and none of the themes are an incredible reach, but once things pick up the movie rounds into a delight I'd gladly watch again.
It's a shame adult reviewers don't review with the target demographic in mind. As a 12-year-old girl, I would have adored this one.
