Review of Strange Days (1995) by Lee B — 02 Jun 2011
Wow. I can't believe people actually like this stinker of a film with a cop turned annoying stoner in this cyberpunk film. Ralph Fiennes is almost unrecognizable in the lead role, but his character is just so unlikeable that his performance doesn't gel because of repetitive and aggravating dialog.
Angela Bassett on the other hand suffers from just plain stupid dialog and extremely bad stereotyping. The film bridges some interesting topics about the end of days, but because of its setting (at the end of 1999 in LA), its incredibly laughable now in retrospect.
While the film had some tantalizing thoughts on the recycling of ideas, etc, its obvious that despite how much has been put into this film, -that this is one of James Cameron's worst ideas. 1.85 stars.
