Review of Straight to Hell (1987) by Simon M — 09 Oct 2007
Yeah, you might not want to believe that rating I put in. I saw this about 20 years ago, and remember thinking it was pretty "quirky" but sorta liking it. On paper it sounds great - a town full of banditos played by the Pogues face off against a trio of robbers played by Joe Strummer (awesome!) and two guys from Repo Man (a personal fave), Sy Richardson and Dick Rude.
All directed by Alex Cox the man behind Repo Man. If this helps, it was one of the coolest soundtracks to have back in the late 80s. Oh and a whiny Courtney Love appears in this and begins her 20 year reign of annoying bitchery.
So not all good memories, then.
