Review of Straight Outta Compton (2015) by Christopher B — 15 Jul 2016
Straight Outta Compton was nearly exceptional, be it not for a few issues with the film's integrity. Ultimately, it WAS so good... seeing the Behind the Music interviews, basically, in live action.
Getting to see some legendary musical history being acted out, was well worth the wait. O'Shea Jackson portrayed his father's evolution insanely well for a first timer. But, I couldn't help feel bad for E, as I KNOW Ice Cube and Dr.
Dre overplayed their "loving and lasting" friendship with him. This was made obvious by their need to excuse why Ice Cube didn't visit him in the hospital. I call BS. Other than that, the film was visually on point, and the screenplay did an amazing job at covering the span of a decade, logically and coherently.
