This is so much more interesting than its well-touted counterparts by the same director. reading through others' reviews I see that someone says it isn't as brave ("or as sick") as Happiness.

.. and I so totally disagree. imo it's way braver in that it doesn't depend upon the horror of blunt sickness and suburban affluence gone all wrong - a theme that's been done to death - and doesn't so strongly use its audience's alignment with suburban reality as a crutch.

Storytelling actually investigates themes of exploitation beyond just a surface cheap shot.
