Came off as banal, tongue-in-cheek nothingness. There was surprising faithfulness to the original book, though this was coupled exclusively with limp and brief 'cameos' by actors who should have known better, an uneven performance by the title character, and a general awkward nature to the screenplay.
Disappointing.
