Review of Storks (2016) by Robby K — 01 Jan 2017
I honestly believe that somewhere in this movie there is a story that would work in the hands of better filmmakers. It's always trying to make you laugh and it may even succeed for some people, but there are at least six times throughout the movie where they completely contradict themselves because "this is a kids movie".
And while this is an animated film, there is no reason that you should slack off because of who you think your target audience is. Jennifer Aniston and Ty Burell portray two parent's who focus a little too much on work, an in turn somewhat neglect their child.
There's a good story in that part of the movie, but it's pushed away so they can focus on this adventure story about taking a baby to it's rightful parents and that story isn't thought out properly anyway.
There is actually a very nice montage towards the end that warms the hear nicely, but it comes too late, and they bury it underneath about two to three more montages immediately after the one that's effective.
Instead of being smart and funny it turns out to be something that you would see on Nickelodeon at ten o'clock at night, because by that time all of the competent parents have sent their children to bed by then.
