Review of Stories We Tell (2012) by Tim G — 14 Sep 2013
I think this is an immensely sad documentary/story that you might not realize it at the time, but it speaks the truth about how tragic we human being are--that we live in a convection of misplaced romance.
Most of the time for most people affections between two people seem to be placed on wrong places/persons. The film poetically conveys this message from stories of many different voices that also exist in a more appropriately named convection of uncertainty.
Moreover, even though it's a story of promiscuity that leads to this documentary, the film left out conventional grudges and resentment that usually associate with this kind of event. I like the fact that Sarah Polley chose an investigative approach to the story which gives it lucid, sobering, and impartial view of what happened.
